Does the 2024 Bronco Sport Live Up to the Hype?

Since its debut in 2021, the Bronco Sport has become a household name. As the smaller sibling to the sixth-generation Ford Bronco, the Bronco Sport has big treads to fill. The Bronco has long been an icon in the world of off-roading and paved driving alike, which means great things are expected from the 2024 Bronco Sport for sale. So far, drivers have been thrilled with the Bronco Sport. But when you see one on the market, how do you know if you should invest in your own? Well, this model offers plenty of trims and options to choose from, although this can be somewhat intimidating to those who are new to the lineup-so, in that case, let's take a closer look at how the smaller sibling of an SUV legend has been living up to everyone's expectations... Off-Roading in the Bronco Sport One of the top questions folks have about the Ford Bronco Sport is whether it has the same off-roading chops as its bigger sibling. That question could mean a lot of things, depending on how intense you are about off-roading. If you're planning on enjoying some local trails or just want a vehicle that offers lots of stability in dirt, gravel, and various weather conditions, a production Bronco Sport is a fantastic choice. If you're planning on heading to the Baja500, though, you probably already have a sense of the updates you'll need to make that happen. The 2024 Bronco Sport offers a standard 7.8-inch ground clearance. An increased 8.8-inch ground clearance is available for those who select off-road tires. With the increased ground clearance, the Bronco Sport can ford water up to 23.6 inches, and it offers a 30.4-degree approach angle, 20.4-degree breakover angle, and 33.1-degree departure angle. All Bronco Sport trims include 4x4 capability as the standard drivetrain, but the Badlands trim has been given an advanced system that features a twin-clutch rear-drive unit that's ideal for those who regularly tackle rugged terrain and strange climbs. The Bronco's famous GOAT Modes (Goes Over Any Terrain) are also offered across the Bronco Sport's lineup, including settings for Sand, Slippery, Sport, Eco, and Normal driving. Again, the Badlands trim has a few extra options, in the form of the Mud/Ruts and Rock Crawl modes. Since the Bronco Sport is smaller than the original Bronco, some trail enthusiasts may be concerned about its cargo space. This is a reasonable consideration for those with plenty of adventure gear, but the good news is that the Bronco Sport offers 65.2 cu.ft. of cargo space behind the first row for most trims; the Badlands trim's cargo space is a bit less, as it measures 60.6 cu.ft. behind the first row. Is the Bronco Sport Practical? Plenty of drivers think of the Ford Bronco Sport as a sort of compromise between the trail-climbing SUV they want and the pavement-appropriate daily driver they need. In fact, this is exactly what the Bronco Sport does best. Most Bronco Sport models are equipped with a 1.5L EcoBoost engine, which provides 181 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque. More importantly, for folks with daily driving needs, it offers a combined fuel economy of 26 MPG. Those looking for more power can check out the 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque produced by the Badlands trim's exclusive 2.0L EcoBoost engine. Impressively, fuel economy drops only slightly to a combined 23 MPG in this trim, which combines a bigger engine with a more intricate 4x4 system. Furthermore, each of the 2024 Bronco Sport's trims offers features that are practical and helpful no matter where you plan to drive. Thoughtful standard touches in the base Big Bend trim-like a spill-resistant rubberized cargo floor and heated side mirrors-help drivers get the most from their investment. Climbing up the trims unlocks unique features that allow drivers to truly enjoy their Bronco Sport. The Heritage trim includes plaid cloth seats and a white painted roof that are reminiscent of the debut 1966 Bronco. The Outer Banks trim adds heating elements to the front seats and steering wheel, while the Badlands trim is fully ready for outdoor adventure with its additional performance features, as well as bash plates and tow hooks for the trail. Safety-minded drivers will also enjoy the standard driver assistance technology aboard each Bronco Sport trim. The standard Ford Co-Pilot360 suite features a rearview camera, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, and automatic high beams. While it might seem strange to get hyped about a car's practicality, there are plenty of drivers who enjoy a truly versatile vehicle-and the Bronco Sport fits the bill perfectly. Extra Special Editions Ford has built a legacy of reliable, versatile vehicles with one major advantage over its competitors: the ability to customize your vehicle to best meet your individual needs. The Bronco Sport is no exception. The 2024 model year includes special edition trims and optional packages that allow buyers to drive their ideal SUV right off the lot. The Bronco Sport Free Wheeling Special Edition has been one of the most highly anticipated trims of 2024, thanks to the vintage look that gained popularity as a 2021 project car. With red, orange, and yellow sunset stripes along with sunset-themed upholstery with ombre stitching, the Free Wheeling trim pays tribute to the 1970s appearance package of the same name. The Black Appearance Package is for drivers who want a sleeker, more sophisticated version of the Bronco Sport. Offered only on the Big Bend trim, this package includes matte black hood graphics, a shadow black painted roof, and sport contour seating, along with black and smoked chrome accents. Not every package updates the Bronco Sport's appearance, however. Several packages offer greater creature comforts and make this SUV not just more practical but more enjoyable. The Convenience Package is offered on the Big Bend, Heritage, and Free Wheeling trims; it adds more comfort in the form of a premium wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats with power-adjustable driver's seat, rear parking sensors, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Drivers of the Outer Banks trim can select the Tech Package to help them enjoy their trail tunes with a ten-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, HD radio, and the same wireless charging pad. Those looking for more adventure may be interested in the Black Diamond Off-Road Package, which adds trailer towing capability and underbody protection to the Big Bend and Outer Banks trims. Not Just Hype: The 2024 Bronco Sport Is Really Cool If a Ford Bronco Sport has caught your eye, you may be wondering if it's a wise investment. Ultimately, that depends on your budget, lifestyle, and driving needs. However, if you are in the market for a vehicle that has the ability to take on highways, extreme weather, and trails alike, the 2024 Bronco Sport might be just what you're looking for. From its well-considered off-roading features to its on-road practicality, the Bronco Sport is designed for a good time behind the wheel. Furthermore, with loads of special editions and packages to choose from, you can sleep easy knowing you've found exactly the model you're looking for.

Bronco vs Bronco Sport: Which Is Best for You?

Other than noticeable exterior differences, you might think the only other difference between the Ford Bronco and the Ford Bronco Sport is five letters. The truth is, there are many more differences than that, and it takes a bit more than just hearing the name and looking at their exteriors to determine which one is best for you. The good news is that our team at Ruge's Ford can help you explore both models and provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision when looking at a Ford Bronco Sport for sale. Both Broncos are rooted in history, with the first Ford Bronco debuting way back in 1965. That Bronco-which is deemed the first sport utility vehicle by many-was an instant hit with a variety of drivers, especially those looking for adventure. Read on to learn more about the Bronco and Bronco Sport to help you determine which one is best for your needs. Off-Roading Capabilities From the beginning, the Ford Bronco was built for off-roading. Today, that purpose is perhaps one of the defining factors as to which model meets your needs. While both will go off-road, they do so differently... The 2024 Ford Bronco The Ford Bronco is a rugged and tough vehicle with a seating capacity of four to five people. You can choose either a two- or four-door version, along with your choice of nine trim levels. This variety makes it easy to find the right one for your needs. Throughout the Ford Bronco lineup, you'll find the signature GOAT Terrain Management System. This system, which stands for "Goes Over All Terrain," offers up to seven modes: Normal, ECO, Sport, Slippery, Sand/Snow, Baja, Rock Crawl, and Mud/Ruts. The GOAT system easily transitions from one to the other with the turn of a knob. Depending on the mode, the system adjusts to promote a smoother ride by disconnecting the front sway bar, disengaging or engaging traction control, or fine-tuning locking differentials. Along with this traction control system, you'll also gain access to the available Trail Control option, which is an off-road feature that allows for low-speed driving as you navigate the trails. Additionally, the availability of removable tops and doors when choosing the Ford Bronco allows you to truly immerse yourself in nature. Also, available accessories make it easier to haul your kayak or bicycle, plus there's a tent accessory for nights under the stars. Finally, the Ford Bronco also gives you the ability to see all around the vehicle with the available 360-degree camera, and you can navigate the area better using the Bronco Trail App. The 2024 Ford Bronco Sport While the Ford Bronco gives you easy access to the road less traveled, as well as a smooth ride both in town and on the highway, the Ford Bronco Sport focuses on the latter first and then the former. For instance, you can head off-road in the Ford Bronco Sport with the addition of the available Black Diamond Off-Road Package and the available Front 180-Degree Camera with Split View. However, the interior details, the cushioned seating for five, and the smooth exterior lines seem built for day-to-day driving that dominates while commuting, running errands, and more, rather than cutting new paths through the wilderness. The Tale of Two Broncos: Which Meets Your Needs? Off-roading aside, there are other differences between the Bronco and Bronco Sport to consider when choosing the right one for you. Those differences are outlined below, but you can also talk with our team to explore the differences further. Cost of Ownership If budget is a major factor when searching for your new vehicle, the Ford Bronco Sport might be a better option, with the lowest trim level starting under $32k. Meanwhile, the Ford Bronco starts at just under $40k. It's important to remember also that the starting price for the Ford Bronco Sport is for a four-door version, unlike the starting two-door Bronco; this is significant for families with smaller children, as ease of use is a big consideration when shopping for a new vehicle. Each Model's Footprint Another thing to consider is where you drive. If you're in and out of the city regularly, you might want a smaller footprint to enable better navigation and parking. Bumper to bumper, the length of the Bronco Sport is 172.7 inches (a little over 14 feet). At the same time, the two-door Bronco is 173.7 inches long, which is not a notable difference. However, if you need better accessibility, you'll want the four-door Bronco, which is 189.4 inches. Power and Performance When comparing power and performance, we'll start with the Ford Bronco Sport. First, all trim levels offer all-wheel drive. Second, a turbocharged 1.5L three-cylinder is the base engine, but you can also opt for a 2.0L four-cylinder that provides you with 245 hp. While this might not be the largest engine in the industry, it does provide you with everything you need, especially if your day-to-day driving is mainly around town and on the highway (with only occasional off-roading). On the other side, the Bronco's standard and optional engines produce a significant increase in power. For instance, its standard engine is a 2.3L four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 325 lb-ft of torque and 300 hp. There is also the choice of a 2.7L V6 turbocharged engine that gives you 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Of course, you might wonder how the engine options affect fuel efficiency, which is significant no matter where the road takes you. To answer that question, you'll find that the EPA calculates the highway fuel economy for the standard three-cylinder engine in the Bronco Sport to be 28 MPG. For the Bronco, the highway fuel economy is calculated at 22 MPG. With these figures in mind, as well as the engine options, you might opt for the Ford Bronco Sport to save money at the pump. Cargo Capacity In this head-to-head comparison, the Ford Bronco offers greater cargo room, as you might assume. However, that cargo space fluctuates depending on whether you choose the two- or four-door version. With the two-door, you'll have up to 22.4 cu.ft. behind the rear seats, with a maximum of 52.3 cu.ft. when those seats are folded down. Choosing the four-door option gives you up to 83.0 cu.ft. with the seats down for the soft top option and 77.6 cu.ft. for the hard top option. While the Ford Bronco Sport offers less cargo space, it uses that space well. For instance, you'll find that the cargo space of the Ford Bronco Sport can be outfitted with a slide-out table that doubles as a work or dining space, as well as a 400-watt power inverter, LED lights, a built-in bottle opener, and more. Towing Capabilities Because of its body-on-frame structure, the large Bronco is really a pickup truck underneath, whereas the unibody construction of the Ford Bronco Sport is modeled after the Ford Escape, which serves as its foundation. Knowing this, along with understanding the engine options, it's easy to see why the Bronco is better for towing than the Bronco Sport. That doesn't mean you can't tow with the Bronco Sport, however; its 2,200-lb towing capacity is perfect for a small camper or utility trailer-but if you need something more, you'll want to opt for the Bronco. Doing this gives you a towing capacity of up to 3,500 lbs for both the two- and four-door options. Connectivity and Safety When comparing the two vehicles and their options for connectivity, you'll find that both get the job done efficiently. Each offers intuitive infotainment systems with a seamless connection to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as available amenities like navigation. Additionally, USB charging ports, wireless charging options, an available Wi-Fi hotspot, and more are great convenience features for the drive. At the same time, you'll also find that Ford provided both options with a long list of driver assistance features that not only make the drive easier but also give you added confidence on the road. Check Out the Bronco and Bronco Sport Today When choosing between the Ford Bronco and Ford Bronco Sport, it comes down to how you'll use it. If fuel efficiency and adaptability are at the top of your must-have list, the Ford Bronco Sport might be the right one for you. On the other hand, if you need more cargo space and the ability to head off-road anytime you want, the Ford Bronco is the one for you. At the end of the day, while the Bronco and Bronco Sport seem similar, there are several differences between the two. With the information above, along with the help of our team at Ruge's Ford, you can compare the differences and similarities to help you determine which one is best for you. Stop by and see them both today.

A blue 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E for sale is shown from the front at an angle on a city street

How Does the Mustang Mach-E Stack Up Against the Competition?

To say we're in a period of automotive upheaval is an understatement. The shift toward an all-electric future is fraught with growing pains, and it's something we're seeing across the industry as a lot of brands struggle to figure out what their lineup will look like in the years ahead. For many, it's a period of slow and awkward adjustments resulting in vehicles that are interesting but that also miss the mark in some key ways. One noteworthy exception to this, however, is Ford and the Mustang Mach-E, which beautifully combines the legacy of the Mustang name with a sleek new, electrified design. Whether you're interested in a Ford Mustang Mach-E for sale or you're simply curious about this remarkable battery electric vehicle (BEV), there's a lot to take in about it. One of the best ways we've found to fully appreciate what the 2023 Mustang Mach-E has to offer is to look at it beside other models in its class. Specifically, we're going to look at BEV compact SUVs-those models that are similar in size and with all-electric powertrains. That limits our view a bit, but there are a surprising number of competitors out there, so let's dig in! Relishing the Ford Mustang Mach-E Before looking at what the other guys have to offer, let's take a moment to check out some of the highlights of the Ford Mustang Mach-E. As we said, this is a compact SUV, which means it has seating inside for up to five passengers across two rows. You get nearly 30 cu.ft. of rear cargo space inside the Mustang Mach-E, with almost 60 cu.ft. of total cargo volume behind the front seats, plus a drainable frunk that works perfectly as a portable cooler. It's a gorgeously designed vehicle, and that extends to its interior, too, where you'll find comfortable seating and a stunning 15.5-inch infotainment display in every model. In terms of performance, you have two battery options and several different configurations for the Mustang Mach-E. The 72-kWh Standard Range battery is what you start with, though a 91-kWh Extended Range battery is available to go further on a single charge. You can also choose either a single motor (for rear-wheel drive) or a dual-motor configuration for electric all-wheel drive (eAWD) that boosts power and performance. The Standard Range battery with eAWD can go up to 224 miles on a full charge, while the Extended Range battery lets the Mustang Mach-E go up to 312 miles on a full charge when properly configured. For thrill-seekers, the incredible GT trim enjoys 480 hp and 634 lb-ft of instant torque, giving you a pulse-pounding drive every time you hit the road. Versus the Hyundai IONIQ 5 First up in our comparisons, we have Hyundai's recent offering in the BEV market, the IONIQ 5. Similar in size to the Mustang Mach-E, the IONIQ 5 also has two batteries available, but the standard one is only a 58-kWh battery pack, while the Long Range one is a 77.4-kWh battery-barely more powerful than the Mach-E's standard. The starting single-motor model delivers 168 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, which falls well short of the Mustang Mach-E's standard 266 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Even if you go for the most powerful version of the IONIQ 5, you get just 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque, coming up quite wanting compared to Ford's model. Versus the Kia EV6 Next up, Kia checks in with a similar BEV that has one of the most powerful configurations available in this segment-and yet, its batteries are the same as what we see in the Hyundai IONIQ; it even has the same standard 167 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque as Hyundai's model. Fortunately, Kia offers an improved top-end option with the EV6 GT-Line that delivers 576 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque. This gives the Mustang Mach-E a fair bit of competition, and we love to see so much power from a brand like Kia. Versus the Nissan ARIYA The Nissan ARIYA is another impressive competitor, though it falls short of what Ford delivers. Here, again, we have two battery options-a standard 63-kWh battery and an enhanced 87-kWh battery-and you can see they both fail to match what Ford offers. At its best, the ARIYA gets 389 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque from a dual motor setup, which isn't nearly as powerful as the Mustang Mach-E, though it can come close to the Mach-E's range with up to 304 miles estimated from its most efficient configuration. Versus the Subaru Solterra Subaru has decided to keep its BEV compact SUV quite accessible, but they've sacrificed a lot of power and flexibility in the process. The Solterra has a single setup-a 71.4-kWh battery with a pair of motors-which sounds pretty good at first, but they only deliver 215 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque. That falls short of the Mustang Mach-E's starting configuration, and it's not even on the same page as what you can get with the Mach-E GT. With just 228 miles of range from a full charge, the Solterra simply cannot compete with the other vehicles in this category. Versus the Tesla Model Y You didn't think we'd forget about Tesla, did you? The big dog in the BEV game-Tesla's Model Y-is a direct competitor to the Mustang Mach-E, and it delivers in some major ways. You can get single-motor as well as dual-motor configurations for the Model Y, with different setups for a focus on either range or performance. This is the only model in its class that potentially has a greater range than the Mustang Mach-E, topping out at an estimated 330 miles when properly configured, and its 15.0-inch screen comes close to what Ford offers (as every other model here has a 12.0-inch infotainment display). As you might expect, we'll stick with the Mustang Mach-E, but Tesla comes the closest to swaying us on that decision. Versus the Toyota bZ4X Next up, we have another model that should be a strong contender but ends up falling short against the Mustang Mach-E. The Toyota bZ4X is offered with either a single motor or in a dual-motor configuration, and while they each have a different battery pack, the difference there isn't noteworthy. The single-motor setup delivers 201 hp and 196 lb-ft of torque while going for two motors pushes that slightly to 214 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. With a maximum of 252 miles of range from a full charge, the bZ4X simply can't compete with what Ford offers. Versus the Volkswagen ID.4 Finally, there's Volkswagen and their most recent offering, the all-electric ID.4. With a starting 62-kWh battery and single motor, the ID.4 isn't very impressive, but upgrading to an available 82-kWh battery and dual-motor setup helps improve things a bit. With this configuration, the ID.4 comes to life with 302 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque, which is respectable. The maximum range of up to 275 miles helps the ID.4 surpass options like the bZ4X and Solterra, but it still gets left behind by Ford's SUV. So, Which EV Comes Out on Top? Looking at these numbers, it's pretty clear that the Mustang Mach-E has very little real competition. This is true in terms of pure performance and power, as well as the kind of range it has to offer and even interior features like its massive infotainment display. It's not surprising that the Tesla Model Y is the closest rival, which reinforces how well Ford understands the BEV market and has designed the Mustang Mach-E to dominate this growing segment. As a Ford dealership, it's probably no surprise that we prefer the Mustang Mach-E over a Tesla, but even outside of our own preferences, there's something to be said for the legacy of amazing vehicles Ford has established for more than a century. In that respect, Tesla has a long way to go if it ever wants to compete.

A grey 2024 Ford Maverick Tremor is shown from the front at an angle after leaving a dealer that has Ford trucks for sale near Poughkeepsie

Ford's Maverick or Hyundai's Santa Cruz? Which Is Better for Poughkeepsie?

As your trusted place to find Ford trucks for sale near Poughkeepsie, we here at Ruge's Ford know that not all truck drivers are the same. Some are looking for the biggest, baddest truck out there so they can conquer terrain and tackle taxing jobs day in and day out. But others are looking for something a little more subdued that's as adept at rugged adventures as it is at driving through city streets. So, if you're looking for a truck that's the right size for parking in downtown Poughkeepsie but can also show up strong for camping trips, a compact truck is the way to go. In Ford's lineup, the Maverick is the sole compact option, and it offers both capability and maneuverability-but how does it compare to models from other automakers? Today, we'll see how the Ford Maverick measures up against the Hyundai Santa Cruz, a "sport adventure vehicle" that's a unique mix between a pickup truck and a crossover SUV. Which of these vehicles is better for Poughkeepsie drivers? Let's find out! Their Interiors The cab is where you'll be spending your time behind the wheel, so you want to make sure it's both comfortable and practical. Both the Maverick and the Santa Cruz are exclusively available with crew cabs, which means you'll get four doors and two rows of seating so you can bring passengers along for the ride. But when it comes to what's inside, there are some differences... The interior of the Santa Cruz is very much like what you'll find in a Hyundai SUV: it looks nice but doesn't have much personality. An 8.0-inch touchscreen display comes standard, and there's also a digital gauge cluster behind the wheel. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility let you use your smartphone via the vehicle's interface for navigation, music streaming, and more. Step inside the Maverick, and you'll feel more like you're in a truck. The cockpit has a bold look that makes you feel like you're in command of a vehicle that can handle just about anything. Its clever layout includes plenty of storage cubbies, plus an under-seat storage area in the back row, so you can tuck away any items that you might need, like camping gear for a trip up the Hudson or a change of clothes so you can have a night on the town after work. Even the base model of the Maverick lets you get your settings just right for you, with adjustable lumbar support and a tilting, telescoping steering wheel. Their Cargo Beds With a bed length of a little over four feet, the Santa Cruz is no full-size truck, but it does have room for plenty of cargo. It also has a hidden storage compartment under the floor for sensitive equipment and is available with an integrated Tonneau cover to protect your things from rain showers and winter storms. Heavy-duty cargo rings help you tie things down to keep them in place while driving. The Maverick has a few extra inches of bed length, bringing it up to a full four feet and five inches; this allows you to load up plenty of equipment, wood for DIY projects, or anything else you need to transport. Ford's FLEXBED system makes it easy to customize your Maverick's bed to fit your needs, with slots for dividers (for easy organization) and available bed lighting that lets you load in the dark. Ten tie-downs give you what you need to secure your cargo, and they can also double as bottle openers to help you level up your tailgate party experience. You'll also have a power outlet in your bed, which can come in handy for everything from operating power tools to watching TV. Their Powertrains The Santa Cruz has two powertrains that are strictly assigned by trim level. The SE and SEL trims have a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that produces up to 191 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque, while the Night, XRT, and Limited trims get a turbocharged engine that ups those figures to 281 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. Lower-tier trims can be had with either front- or all-wheel drive, while upper-tier trims come standard with AWD. Properly configured, the Santa Cruz can tow up to 5,000 lbs. With the Maverick, there's more room for customization, so you can strike a balance that's perfect for your needs. All three trim levels come standard with a 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 engine that delivers 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. Any of these trims can be had with either front- or all-wheel drive, so you can get extra traction if you want to be prepared for wet winters or tilt toward better numbers if you want to prioritize efficiency (if you mainly drive in the city). All trims also allow you to equip the optional hybrid powertrain, which produces 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. The Maverick can tow slightly less than the Santa Cruz, at 4,000 lbs maximum, but that's still plenty of capacity for a camping trailer or boat. If you like to explore river towns, historical sites, and pristine wilderness during your time off, then you'll also want to pay attention to fuel economy. Compact trucks already offer better fuel economy ratings than their mid- or full-size peers, but not all are created equal. Getting more miles per gallon can save you both money and time since you won't have to stop at the gas station as often and can spend more time on the road. With the base engine and FWD, the Santa Cruz has an EPA-estimated combined city/highway rating of 23 MPG. Upgrade to the turbocharged option and you're looking at 22 MPG. Even though it's more powerful than the base engine on the Santa Cruz, the Maverick's base engine is also more efficient, with a combined rating of 25 MPG in AWD and 26 MPG in FWD. The hybrid powertrain does even better than that, providing an impressive 37 MPG combined, so you can go far and wide before you have to refuel. Their Prices The cost of living in Poughkeepsie is peanuts if you compare it to Manhattan, but that doesn't mean it's not an expensive city. It takes a lot of money to support a family in Dutchess County, especially if you want to save up for fun vacations, home improvement projects, and other things that aren't quite necessities. So, if you can get a good value on a vehicle, that means extra cash in your pocket for your other expenses. When it comes to price, the Maverick is the better deal across the board. The Santa Cruz has a starting MSRP of almost $27k for its most basic trim and can climb all the way up to over $42k at the top of the ladder. By contrast, the Maverick starts at just over $23k for the base trim and only gets up to $40k for the top-tier Lariat trim. Since the Maverick's capability and quality are comparable to the Santa Cruz (if not better), it provides a much stronger value thanks to its lower price tag, giving you all of the features you need for less. Get Your Maverick Here at Ruge's Ford Clearly, the Maverick is the ideal compact truck for Poughkeepsie drivers. Its small size is great for maneuvering on tight city streets, but its capability allows it to travel into the more rural areas of New York for relaxing vacations and daring adventures. You can check out the Maverick for yourself here at Ruge's Ford. Once you get behind the wheel of this small but mighty pickup, we know you'll see why we're so proud to offer the Maverick to our customers.

Performance for Poughkeepsie Ford: Ford F-150 or Chevy Silverado 1500?

Living in Poughkeepsie necessitates a sustainable vehicle that can handle the winter season. Situated on the Hudson River, Poughkeepsie experiences distinct temperature swings in the summer and winter months, so you'll need a vehicle that can withstand these weather changes and continuously deliver exceptional performance. Poughkeepsie's natural beauty and athletic history make pickup trucks a popular mode of transportation, and tradition has residents preferring either Ford or Chevy. We're going to compare the 2024 Ford F-150 and the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 to determine which is the superior vehicle for the area-so if you're considering Chevy or Ford trucks for sale near Poughkeepsie, read on before making your final decision. Efficiency and Power Any notably populated area is bound to experience traffic; thus, it's important to have a vehicle that can handle stop-and-go patterns for the sake of fuel conservation. This is particularly true in the area adjacent to Highway 9. A study conducted by Dutchess County revealed that interchanges and poor pedestrian crossings led to congestion. In addition, the historic district at the center of town leads traffic to slow during tourist season. So, what can be done to address this issue? The logical solution is to find a pickup truck with strong fuel economy figures. With the Chevy Silverado 1500, the most efficient powertrain option is centered around the Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine; with this, you can get an EPA-estimated 23 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and 26 MPG combined. While these numbers are rather impressive for a pickup, there's a catch: diesel fuel has been going through a sort of renaissance, but its price is noticeably higher than gasoline. In fact, the EPA says drivers usually pay up to $3,500 more over a five-year period for diesel engines than for gas engines. Ford's solution is much more cost-effective. The 2024 F-150 has a hybrid powertrain that consists of a turbocharged 3.5L V6 and an electric motor. This powertrain gets an EPA-estimated 25 MPG in the city, 25 MPG on the highway, and 25 MPG combined. You can expect a range of 765 miles on a full tank, and spending about $1,250 on fuel in five years beats out Chevy's diesel option by a considerable margin. It's further worth noting that Ford's most economical powertrain is not only comparable in fuel efficiency (at 25 MPG combined versus 26 MPG combined), but it's far more powerful. The 3.5L PowerBoost Turbo V6 HEV powertrain gets 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque, whereas the Silverado 1500's 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel I-6 gets only 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. Sure, Chevy's flagship pickup can tow 13,300 lbs-which is a touch more than the F-150's 12,700 lbs-but Ford gets the edge on hauling, with a payload capacity of 2,120 lbs over the Silverado 1500's 1,970 lbs. Off-Roading Trims In addition to being near the Hudson River, Poughkeepsie has access to numerous trails and parks; this amounts to several opportunities for outdoor activities. Many truck owners relish the chance to go exploring off-road, and both the F-150 and the Silverado 1500 have attributes that can facilitate weekend warriors and their adventures. For those who want to go off-roading in the Chevy Silverado 1500, there are some options, the most notable of which are the Trail Boss trims, which each bear a hefty price tag. Meanwhile, the elite ZR2 trim contains skid plates and tires tailored for off-roading; as Chevy's most diligent off-roader, the ZR2 is specifically built for the great outdoors-but with its MSRP exceeding $71k and its fuel economy figures at an abysmal 14 MPG in the city and 17 MPG on the highway (for 15 MPG combined), it won't be ideal for the average Poughkeepsian. Just as Ford offers drivers a more fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain, they also facilitate off-road adventures that are easier on the wallet. Introduced for the previous model year, the Tremor trim has all of the off-roading attributes one could ask for at a more agreeable price of under $64k. The Tremor has tires, skid plates, and a suspension specifically tuned for going off the pavement. It's just as capable of traveling in the city, and it gets savvier fuel economy ratings of 16 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway (for 18 MPG combined). Semi-Autonomous Driving One of the most sought-after commodities to emerge in recent years has been semi-autonomous driving technology. Ford and Chevy's tools are similar to one another, as they both have hundreds of thousands of miles of pre-programmed roads all across North America. This hands-free tech is crucial in preventing driver fatigue over long periods. Ford's Blue Cruise is the more readily available of the two, with it being standard on the Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Tremor trims. Chevy, on the other hand, has their own version-SuperCruise-which is an available option on their top-tier High Country trim. Once again, Ford understands the need to make modern technology more accessible to the average driver. Maintenance Costs No driver wants a vehicle that incurs frequent, expensive repairs. Timely, routine maintenance is key to ensuring the investment you make in a vehicle is worth it. In regards to the Silverado 1500 and F-150, the frequency of repairs and preventative maintenance depends on several factors, such as the type of usage and how often. If you only use your truck for commutes and errands, you can get away with less frequent replacements of things like air filters and tires. However, if you use your truck for both daily driving and off-roading, you will need to attend to these items more regularly. Another major factor is your driving habits. In comparing the F-150 and Silverado 1500, this is a very tight race, as the annual repair costs for both are above $700, and both require oil changes and tire rotations every few thousand miles, just like any other vehicle. Both vehicles are in the same ballpark as far as the probability of a major repair, while Ford's 15% likelihood is marginally more appealing than the 16% attributed to Chevy. That said, drivers have cumulatively reported twice as many issues with the Silverado 1500 than with the F-150. We've Made Our Pick-Have You? When it comes to picking the ideal pickup truck for Poughkeepsie, there are quite a few things to consider, like fuel economy and traffic congestion. We also examined the costs and features of off-road-oriented trims as well as the average annual repair costs for both models. It's also worth noting that both can easily handle the rigors of wintertime as they both can be equipped with 4WD. For its economical fuel consumption, favorable off-road trim, and low repair costs, we can say without question that the 2024 Ford F-150 is the ideal pick for Poughkeepsie. As the best-selling pickup truck in North America, the F-150's lineage makes it a favorite among many. If you want to get one for yourself, come by Ruge's Ford; we have a vast selection of new and used Ford vehicles, all held to the highest standards. Which Entry-Level Ford F-150 Trim Is Right for You?

Shopping for Ford trucks for sale near Red Hook can present its own set of challenges, but not in the way you might think. Everyone knows the Ford F-Series is America's most popular family of trucks, with the F-150 being hailed as America's Best-Selling truck for 46 years in a row! That is impressive considering the steep competition from big brands like Chevy and Ram, who don't make it easy to stay on top year after year. Yet, the Ford F-150 continues to gather a loyal following of drivers looking for a truck they can depend on that doesn't cut corners when it comes to hard work and play. So, which F-150 works for you? Currently, the F-150 is available in eight different trim levels, each one designed and crafted to elevate your driving experience in one way or another. Maybe you need an essential work truck or a family hauler for daily use. Maybe you want to get off-road and experience the pickup's raw performance. Towing and Hauling? Thanks to its strong engine options and advanced technology, Ford makes it easy and safe to hitch up and hit the road. Whatever your needs or preferences are, there is a Ford F-150 waiting to take you for a ride. Choosing the right F-150 trim for your specific needs, preferences, and budget without compromising is easier than you think! The F-150's 2023 lineup of trucks includes a range of trim levels, each offering different features and capabilities. Woah, you might be saying, maybe you want to keep things simple. No problem! Ford's trim options provide all the essentials your day requires, from great interior styling to user-friendly tech, and plenty of performance. Upgrade features to get the performance balance for your drive. Getting into a Ford truck that works for your budget is easy. Still not sure there's a waiting for you? You'll think again after you learn about all that the F-150 entry-level trims have to offer everyday drivers like you looking to get into an iconic truck at a price that works. The F-150 XL: Fully Loaded The start of the F-150 trim lineup for 2023 is the F-150 XL. As the name implies, this truck is big in all the right ways. Fully loaded and ready to go, the XL offers drivers a lot for their money. Beginning at under $35k, the XL is a workhorse designed for drivers looking for a capable, well-rounded truck that fits their needs and budget. The XL is the right trim if you want strong performance capabilities without all the extra frills. The six-seater XL delivers a roomy cabin with plenty of space for the driver and passengers, plus gear, tools, or essentials. The streamlined smart interior makes it easy to stay organized even when you're working in the field or spending long hours traveling. The 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 4 is standard, offering a convenient way to connect with your truck and access the latest technology without the headache. Drivers have the option to enhance SYNC 4 with Voice Recognition to go hands-free and streamline their tech system even further. A standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot means even when they're out of the office, drivers can keep their devices connected in order to access important documents, texts, and more. When it comes to performance potential, get a lot from the XL. After all, it is a Ford, so you relax and know the Blue Oval has you covered. The XL is standard with a 290 hp 3.3L TI-VCT V6 engine that has 265 lb-ft of torque for plenty of hard work. The engine was designed to deliver optimal performance and efficiency with every turn. While RWD is standard, drivers can upgrade to 4WD performance for increased performance. A selection of drive modes makes it straightforward to optimize your truck with the turn of a dial. On the RWD model, drivers can quickly switch between Normal, Eco, Sport, Tow/Haul, Slippery, and Trail Mode. When upgraded to the 4WD, Trail Mode is replaced with Deep Sand/Snow, plus the additional Mud/Rut Mode. There is no doubt about it: if you want a truck that does it all and doesn't have an overabundance of unnecessary bells and whistles, the XL provides unbeatable value inside and out for drivers. The F-150 XLT: A Truck for a Variety of Drivers We love the XLT trim level for drivers who want a balanced truck for work or family. It builds on the success of the XL trim and fits well into a variety of budgets. Starting at under $42k, the XLT was designed to bring you comfort and capabilities, all at an affordable price that works. The XLT features the same 290 hp 3.3L TI-VCT V6 engine as the XL trim level. The model is a RWD or can be upgraded to a 4WD. Upgrading to a 4WD will give you additional Drive Modes, like Sand/Snow and Mud/Rut, while the RWD offers Trail mode for tricky terrain. Drivers have the option to level up their engines for increased efficacy or performance. Choices include a 2.7L or 3.5L EcoBoost V6 or a 5.0L TI-VCT V8 for a major jolt of power. Depending on your tow/haul needs and work, the XLT's engine options ensure that drivers get the perfect level of performance for their trucks. The interior is a great mix of comfort and convenience, with standard SYNC 4 with Enhanced Voice Recognition for hands-free tech. Drivers can upgrade their 8-inch screen to a 12-inch screen if desired. The XLT offers available driver assist features like BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Tow Coverage for increased safety when hauling a trailer. The system is designed to ease the stress of towing, alert drivers to vehicles riding in their blind spots, and give you a better view of your trailer from multiple angles. Additional available packages make it possible to adjust the XLT to meet your life's demands. Packages like the 2.7L V6 EcoBoost Payload Package, Max Trailer Tow Package, or the Class IV Trailer Hitch can increase your truck's towing potential, while the FX4 Off-Road Package maximizes your truck's performance when hitting the trails. The XLT is the perfect truck for drivers who want more than the basics, with plenty of options to adjust their truck to meet their lifestyles without destroying their budget. The Entry Level F-150 Trims Are Anything But Basic You might hear the term entry or base level and not expect much, but Ford has set out to impress drivers with its trim models, starting at the beginning and working its way up. With some truck brands, there might not be much to start with, and you have no choice but to spend beyond your limit to get the performance features or engine power you require. Not with the Blue Oval; they keep drivers in mind from start to finish. The entry-level F-150 XL and XLT offer an abundance of features, plenty of comfort, and high levels of standard performance, all of which have gone into making the F-150 the go-to truck for drivers across the country. The F-150 was made for everyone, and when you don't need bells and whistles and want the basics, Ford doesn't punish you, making you spend more than you want or need. Find your perfect level of comfort and power at a price that works when you shop the entry-level F-150 trim lineup that is anything but basic.

What's New With the 2024 Ford F-150?

We have customers visiting us regularly, shopping for Ford trucks for sale, who are curious about the all-new 2024 Ford F-150. There's been a lot of buzz going around about this always-popular full-size pickup. Even though the F-150 has been a best seller for decades, Ford hasn't taken that as an excuse to stop innovating. They've brought back the impressive F-150 better than ever, with upgrades in nearly every area. These upgrades have made work at construction sites and similar work areas easier to manage. They've made changes to the bed to make loading and unloading it easier. They've given drivers the power to do more and go more places. We're excited to introduce our customers to the 2024 Ford F-150. Naturally, because people were already so pleased with the previous model, we are getting a lot of questions about the upgrades. Drivers want to be sure the features and core capabilities they always loved are still there (they are). Some are wondering if they should upgrade to the newer model. Because previous year models already have so many features customers love, they want to make sure they won't lose their favorite parts of this pickup. So they want to know if it's still the F-150 they know and love. We're here to answer all of your questions and show you all of the 2024 trims. Here are the exciting upgrades to the 2024 Ford F-150. Let's Start With the Pro Access Tailgate Ford has been steadily perfecting the F-150's tailgate. For years, drivers have loved the fold-down tailgate step, making it easy for them to access the deeper parts of the bed. For the 2024 year, Ford is taking things to the next level with this truck by adding a power up/down tailgate with a work surface. A power up/down function means you can take it easier on the tailgate's hydraulics, potentially increasing their lifespan. It also means you can spare yourself the effort of manually lifting and lowering the tailgate. The work surface gives contractors and other professionals a place to sketch out blueprints, fill out invoices, and sign contracts when they're away from their offices. It's also not a bad place to enjoy your lunch break. Within that work surface, you'll also find other helpful features. You get integrated rulers for handling work site measurements. You get a section that holds your cell phone. There's also a pencil and a cupholder. Think of it like your mobile office in the back of your pickup. Ford has also made some optional changes to the bumper step. They increased the width of the step cut-out and the depth of the bumper itself, creating a larger stepping area for accessing the bed. However, customers still have the option to stick with the traditional tailgate, should they prefer that. The tailgate also boasts a 100-degree opening integrated swing gate, which makes it easier for drivers to access their bed when towing. The swing gate has built-in stops to prevent it from bumping up against trailer elements. A New Standard Engine That's Powerful And Fuel Efficient For the 2024 model year, unless selecting another option, all F-150 drivers will get the new standard 2.7-liter EcoBoost. It combines impressive power and fuel economy. For the 2023 model, this engine only first appeared on the upper Lariat trim, but now drivers of the base level trim will have this solid powertrain, too. Between its formidable horsepower and torque, the new standard engine is ready for towing and hauling and is also a smart choice for commuters. We love the balanced performance of this standard engine. Drivers who don't want the standard engine have several other options. These include a 3.5-liter EcoBoost, a 3.5-liter PowerBoost, a 3.5-liter High Output, a 5.0-liter V8, and a 5.2-liter supercharged V8. One of our associates would love to help you choose the best one for your power, fuel economy, and towing needs. Even More Storage in the Bed The added functionality of the bed doesn't stop with the increased step size, work surface, and power up/down tailgate. Drivers will also get new standard storage in the bed. Drivers now get a standard bed storage box behind one or both rear wheels. The location will depend on whether or not drivers opt for the Pro Power Onboard, and boxes range from 5.5 to 6.5 feet. This box boasts a heavy-duty lock, making it an excellent place for stashing valuables like expensive tools or appliances. Thanks to the versatile swing gate, drivers will find it easy to access this storage box. Pickup drivers know that they have a variety of items to stash, and not everything is safe in the bed. Some items, either due to their fragile or valuable nature, need special storage spaces. This new storage bed box shows that Ford thinks about the real needs of their customers. The Raptor Trim Gets Exciting Changes, Too Drivers who love the off-road Raptor trim have some fun improvements to look forward to, too. Ford engineers have made a new optional modular front bumper that boosts off-road capability and adds to the truck's rugged look. Available on Raptors with 37-inch tires, the new bumper is made to reveal more of the front tires for an aggressive appearance and add a little more clearance in certain settings. There are new hood graphics and color options. On the performance front, you'll get all-new valve shocks for better ride control. You'll notice better damping, better rebound, and an all-around smoother ride on rough terrain. We know off-road enthusiasts will find the new Raptor packs a punch in design and performance. Ford Mobile Service

Ruge's Ford Mobile Service For many of us, the term "pickup or delivery" conjures up images of calling in a pizza order for dinner! Here at Ruge's, however, we're taking "pickup or delivery" - to the next level. That's right - our new mobile service means that customers can enjoy having vehicles picked up from their driveways for repairs and delivered back home! AND, as if that's not enough, this new offering ALSO includes the opportunity to have cars, trucks, and SUVs serviced right in your very own DRIVEWAYS! Ford reintroduced the Ranger as a midsize pickup truck for the 2019 model year, ending an eight-year drought for drivers who wanted a Ford pickup but didn't need the full-size F-150. The newly reborn Ranger was a hit; after a few production hiccups, sales exceeded 10,000 units per month by November of 2019. And little wonder, as the new Ranger's high-tech redesign set it apart from its older rivals. So, if you're searching for a Ford Ranger for sale today, you might enjoy reflecting on the long journey that led to the creation of your favorite truck. John Alterio, Service Director at Ruge's Ford We recently caught up with John Alterio, Service Director at Ruge's Ford who, among other responsibilities, manages our newly launched mobile service program. A former Deputy Sheriff, John had dedicated much of his adult life to public service before coming to Ruge's. Here is what we learned: John, tell us more about the new mobile service option available to Ruge's Ford customers, and what kinds of 'house calls' you make. Our mobile unit allows us to handle some open recalls, software updates, flat tires, radio updates, and more. It also affords us the ability to jump start vehicles with battery packs. Some things can be performed right from our mobile truck in the driveway of someone's home, while other service needs require us to pick up a customer's vehicle and bring it to our service center (and then return it.) How quickly can people expect someone to come out when they need support? Depending on our schedule, we generally offer same-day service. The earlier in the day that a customer makes a request, the better! Reaching out to us before 8am is ideal if you want your vehicle back on the same day - but we do our best to accommodate those who call us later than that too. How far do you travel for your "house calls"? Our service area includes customers who are within a 15-mile radius of Rhinebeck. What do you - and your customers - most love about this new program? The chance to deliver (and for our customers, the chance to experience) exceptional customer service. Our customers have been thrilled with this option! Sometimes they're under the weather and they cannot get to us but we can get to them - and if we can't repair something onsite at their home, then we pick up the vehicle, bring it into our shop, and return it back to them. Most of the time this all happens within the same day, which is great. It is so convenient for people and we're so glad to see how satisfied everyone is with the outcomes so far. Customers can even get text notifications to tell them which one of our employees they can expect to come to their home, along with an estimated arrival time. Do you feel these 'house calls' are the wave of the future, as we move into a society focused on greater convenience for people? Absolutely - this makes everything so much easier, especially for those who might be dealing with illness or who have to go to work and cannot take the time out for a service appointment outside of their home. And there's no extra charge, which makes it a win all-around! Reach out to John Alterio with any questions at jalterio@rugesauto.com or by calling 845.876.4440

Meet Bob Henderson: Parts Manager at Ruge's Frod

Down-to-earth, super-personable - with a love of all things automotive and a strong work ethic - Bob Henderson brings so much to customers and colleagues here at Ruge's Ford. As Parts Manager, Bob says he's especially grateful that the pandemic is in the rearview mirror, having navigated the challenges of supply chain issues during the global health crisis. "Although those challenges still exist, things are much better now and we do our best to get our customers everything they need in a timely manner." That same spirit of gratitude carries over into conversations about what it's like to live in his home region and work for a family-owned business. Bob, tell us about your background. I'm originally from Kingston, where I attended high school and first discovered how much I enjoy cars. I have always loved riding ATV's and off-road vehicles - there was a sand pit by my house, and I've got a lot of fun memories from that. What is it like to build your adult life in the region where you grew up? It's very cool. I even bought the house I grew up in from my mom. The house is old and definitely a work in progress, but I enjoy it and really love this area. What inspired you to pursue this career path? My uncle had a 1970 Chevelle Convertible and I just fell in love with that car, and it grew from there. I would tinker with cars whenever I had the chance, from the time I was in my early teens. As Ruge's Parts Manager, what is your day-to-day like? Every morning, orders come in; we check everything in, get things tagged, and notify the service department and customers that the parts they need are ready. Our goal is to make sure everything is organized so that we can service our customers as quickly as possible. We just do the best we can every day. What do you most love about working for Ruge's? They are a great family and treat their employees well. I feel very lucky to be working here - and really like that it is only about 25 minutes from my home over the river! What is the one feature on Ford vehicles that customers shouldn't live without? Everyone should have the remote start! It makes things so convenient and comfortable, whatever the season. I have a 2012 truck with remote start - when it's hot out, I can get the air conditioning going and cool it off before I get inside - and I can do the opposite for winter by starting it ahead of time and heating it up. It's the best. If you could take a road trip anywhere, where would you go and what vehicle would you choose? I would take a road trip to California in a Ford Mustang GT 500; it's fast, has good handling, is super-charged, and would be so much fun to drive all the way to the other side of the country. What do you like to do in your free time? I am spending a lot of time fixing up the old house so that keeps me busy when I'm not working. The Ranger Revolution: How Ford Redefined Small Pickups

Roots in an Oil Shock American cars and trucks had grown famously huge by the early 1970s, fueled by cheap gasoline and general prosperity. American dependence on imported oil had grown along with our cars. But that all changed in 1973 when the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) colluded to slash oil production, raise its price, and ban the direct sale of oil to the US and several other countries in response to military support for Israel. Almost overnight, gas prices soared, and lines formed all the way up the street at any gas station that managed to get in a shipment. In some places, you could only buy gas on certain days of the week, depending on whether your license plate ended in an odd or even number. Combined with a general economic slowdown at the time, the word "shock" is an appropriate description of people's reactions to the events of the day. Japanese manufacturers had been patiently increasing their presence in the US market for a couple of decades as of the early 1970s, carefully growing their dealer networks and introducing American consumers to the idea of small, ultra-reliable cars. The oil shock gave them a huge boost since they already had the expertise to build lightweight, fuel-efficient vehicles, including pickup trucks. In particular, Toyota and Datsun (now called Nissan) sold popular compact pickups in the US. The Ranger's Predecessor Even before the oil shock, Ford recognized the shift in consumer demand and saw an opportunity. Instead of building from scratch, Ford collaborated with Mazda to tap into the existing proficiency of the Japanese compact automotive market. This led to the birth of the Ford Courier, a rebranded version of the Mazda B-Series pickup. Introduced in 1972, just a year before the oil crisis, the timing of the Courier's debut proved fortuitous. It also inspired GM to team up with Isuzu to produce the Chevy LUV and induced Chrysler to collaborate with Mitsubishi to create the Dodge D-50. A new compact domestic-badged truck market was born. Spanning over three decades, from 1972 to 2007, the Ford-Mazda partnership resulted in four generations of the Courier. While the truck found consumers in North America, Australia, and New Zealand, only the first two generations graced the American market, with their presence lasting until 1982. This paved the way for the subsequent debut of the first-generation Ford Ranger in 1983. The Genesis of the Ranger Ford's ultimate goal was to produce its own small, domestically manufactured pickup. This proved to take some time, however, as Ford had to learn how to make small trucks from scratch. The result would prove to be worth it, however, ending in Ford producing one of the most popular small trucks of all time, a veritable legend both in the US and in other markets around the world. Using lightweight materials and the latest technology, the new Ranger would combine fuel efficiency and capability in an attractive, rugged package. However, the Ranger's journey to market wasn't without challenges. A second oil shock in 1979 left motorists facing long gas queues yet again, dampening the market for pickups. Financial constraints at Ford also threatened the Ranger's launch. Despite the challenges, the Ranger persevered. It officially launched for the 1983 model year and, over the next 28 years, would sell 7 million units. This initial run covered three generations of the Ranger. It remained popular, but by the early 2000s, pickup truck buyers' needs were changing. This shift in preference marked the end of an era for the Ranger, which was discontinued after the 2011 model year. Ranging Overseas Ford continued its truck collaboration with Mazda, selling a Ranger in overseas markets that was based on a Mazda pickup truck. This version of the Ranger never came to the US, but it gave Ford insight into the needs of foreign pickup buyers. In 2011, it introduced a new Ford-designed Ranger in foreign markets. Since this Ranger was geared toward the tastes of buyers in its intended markets, Ford never brought this model to the US either. Ironically, while Ford was selling a rebadged Mazda as a Ranger in foreign markets, things came full circle when Mazda began selling a rebadged Ranger as a Mazda here in the US, where Mazda maintained a pickup truck presence after its first partnership to produce the Ford Courier ended. Initially, it sold its own design as the B-series in the US, but after 1994, changing regulations induced Mazda to renew its partnership with Ford in order to sell a rebadged Ranger as the B-series in the States. By this point, Ford's mastery of small pickup design had turned the tables on the imports. After the domestic Ranger was discontinued in 2011, the collaboration between the two companies came to an end in the US. The Ranger Rebirth Ford Ranger fans rejoiced when the Ranger returned for the 2019 model year. Now a mid size truck rather than a compact truck like its predecessor, the Ranger remains a true truck with a mostly steel body-on-frame design built around a brand-new, fully boxed frame. It shares some parts with the larger F-150 but has all its own body panels on its supercab body. An aluminum hood and tailgate help to keep weight down, in keeping with the Ranger's tradition of using lightweight materials. However, it wears real steel bumpers, setting it apart from many of its competitors. When it was reintroduced, there was one engine offered: an aluminum 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder with a double-roller timing chain and forged crankshaft and connecting rods. These features gave the engine the toughness that it needed for truck duty. The engine lineup has grown to include two larger V6 models. A 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine produces 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Above that in the lineup is a 3.0-liter EcoBoost, which is the most powerful engine found in a Ranger. It cranks out a class-leading 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It features a Baja mode for truly fearless off-roading. Appropriately, this engine is standard in the Ranger Raptor, the off-road version of this celebrated pickup. The Future Where does the Ranger go from here? There's a planned plug-in hybrid model, but it will be only for overseas markets. The rumor mills say there will be a Ranger Lightning electric model in 2025, pairing with the well-received F-150 Lightning. Both high-tech models testify to Ford's adaptability and commitment to understanding diverse truck markets. Its journey from being a rebadged Mazda to being the standout model it is today highlights the Ranger's pivotal role in shaping the compact and midsize truck landscape, both in the US and abroad.

A full-time 4x4 system comes with an Electromechanical Transfer Case (EMTC). Notable Fuel Efficiency In an era where fuel efficiency is a top concern for many buyers, the 2024 Ford Ranger delivers competitive fuel economy ratings for a pickup truck in its class. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine is particularly efficient, offering respectable fuel economy both on the highway and in the city. Many people are keen on finding vehicles with good fuel economies, and you might be one of those people. Pickup trucks don't always offer the most ideal numbers; however, the 2024 Ford Ranger serves competitive fuel efficiency ratings for a midsize pickup truck. The standard 2.3L turbo I-4 has a fuel economy of 19 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway. The 2.7L twin-turbo V6 is higher powered and, therefore, consumes more fuel than the base engine. However, the tradeoff seems worth it to many buyers, with the ability to get 16 MPG in the city and 18 MPG on the highway. Trim Levels and Customization Every driver is looking for something that speaks to them, which is why Ford offers a range of different trim levels and configurations on the 2024 Ranger lineup. Whether you need a work truck that can get the job done with all the basics or an off-road warrior that is fully loaded with features, there is a Ranger that can meet your needs. The trim levels available are the entry-level XL, mid-tier XLT, and high-end LARIAT, as well as the off-road-oriented Ranger Raptor. Each trim level includes different features and capabilities to let you select the one that best matches your needs and budget. You can take your pick from several optional packages and accessories that let you customize the truck to your liking.
